Bilberry is a part of the herb world that has recently begun re-emerging because of recent scientific discoveries linking the fruit to therapeutic properties in blood vessel-related disorders. If you happen to suffer from any disorder that is related to weaken blood vessels, then you should definitely think about bilberry as part of your treatment, as it can be safe and extremely effective. Bilberry is a rich source of anthocyanidins, which gives it the unique ability to stabilize and protect collagen stores. This helps to prevent capillary leakage and hemorrhage. Bilberry is currently being used to treat vascular and blood disorders, and is also a main ingredient in the treatment of many visual problems. It has even been proven effective for varicose veins, thrombosis, diabetes, macular degeneration, and angina.

Thanks to its rich amounts of anthocyanosides, bilberry is an extremely valuable treatment for a variety of disorders in which leaky veins cause tissue damage. Containing over 15 different anthocyanosides, bilberry protects the veins and arteries, as it boosts a great deal of physiological processes that results in the improved integrity of capillary walls. Additionally, anthocyanosides prevent platelets from sticking to the walls of vessels, which helps to prevent the formation of blood clots. Bilberry has shown healing properties including: analgesic, anti-arthritic, anti-clotting, antiulcer, anti-edemic, anti-inflammatory, anti-osteotic, cyclooxygenase inhibitor, inhibits collagenase, inhibits elastase, lipoxygena, smooth muscle relaxant, lowers blood sugar, and vasodilator.

With more than 100 names from around the world, bilberry also can be known by: huckleberry, whortleberry, European blueberry, myrtle bilberry, myrtle blueberry, myrtle whortleberry, Rocky Mountain whortleberry, red whortleberry, black grouseberry, low bilberry, mountain blueberry, huckleberry, and blueberry. Bilberry is a perennial shrub that can be commonly found in many different climates around the world that are characterized by damp woodlands and moorlands in northern Europe, northern regions of America, and parts of Canada.

Bilberry grows as a small shrub with wiry, angular branches that do not usually grow over a foot high. The branches of bilberry bear waxy flowers and black berries that are covered with a grey bloom when they are ripe. The leather-like leaves of bilberry are initially rose color, but turn to a yellowish-green in the summer and a fiery red in the autumn.

Growing abundantly in areas of England and flourishing best on high ground in the north and west regions of Britain, bilberry possesses a round fruit or berry that has a flat top and is approximately the size of a black currant, with a taste that is slightly acidic. The berry bushes prefer filtered shade and moist, fertile soil that is acidic and non calcareous. The bilberry plant is related most closely to blueberries and currants, all of which belong to the genus Vaccinium. Bilberries are rich in carbohydrates, tannin, vitamin A, and vitamin C. It also contains glucoquinine, which is able to lower blood sugar.

Finally, bilberry is considered an astringent; it exhibits antibacterial properties in the intestines. Bilberry’s analgesic properties are often thought to come from chlorogenic-acid and ferulic-acid content. Bilberry contains copper, quercetin, linoleic-acid, magnesium, pantothenic acid, ursolic acid, and zinc. This herb is good for the parts of the body that contain small fragile blood vessels such as the eyes and this is why this herb is associated with promoting eye health.

Over centuries bilberry has been used for its medicinal purposes. Similar to blueberries and cranberries, bilberry also contains anti-inflammatory and anti-oxidant qualities. This fruit is used for its astringent, tonic and antiseptic properties which can treat various health problems like diarrhea, dysentery, hemorrhoids and gastrointestinal inflammation. The most important use for bilberry has been the treatment of various eye disorders and improvement of capillary health.

Bilberry has been very effective in improving night vision. Being a close relative of blueberry, it contains high levels of natural antioxidant compound. These antioxidants prevent free radicals from causing any damage to the eye. It also strengthens the small blood vessels that carry oxygen to the eyes.

Bilberry is high in flavonoids known as Anthocyanosides, that quickens the regeneration of Rhodospin, a purple pigment used as rods in the eye for night vision. It is also useful in treating macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy and cataract. One study has shown that combination of bilberry extracts and vitamin E reduces the progression of cataract.

Studies have shown that supplementation with bilberry improves eye adaptation to darkness for people with poor vision. It does not work with people having good vision though. Bilberry extracts are known to improve the functional ability of eyes and other organs. It is also useful in treating bruising, general subcutaneous bleeding, and easing inflammation that occurs in osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis and gum disease.

Bilberry leaves can be used to treat diabetes due to its hypoglycemic properties. It can be used as a topical treatment in the form of infusion or decoctions, like tea or liquid extracts for eyes and mouth inflammation, skin infections and burns. It is known to treat chronic venous insufficiency, varicose veins, pain, itching, and skin ulcers in the legs. It may also prove be effective in treating Raynaud’s disease.

It can be useful in treating atherosclerosis as it strengthens artery walls and promotes good circulation. Eating bilberry mixed with honey is a popular home remedy for diarrhea. It is also very effective in curing and treating peptic ulcers, fibrocystic breast disease and painful menstruation. It is available in tincture as well as capsule form. And fresh bilberries are always there to be plucked.

To reduce cataract, macular degeneration and other eye problems take 80-160 mg of standardized extract or 1/2 teaspoon liquid extract two or three times a day. For diabetic retinopathy take 80- 160 mg (standardized to 23-37% anthocyanosides) at least three times a day

To treat varicose veins consume 80-160 mg standardized extract three times a day.

For sore throat and diarrhea make bilberry tea by pouring 1 cup hot water in 1 or 2 tablespoons of dried whole berries (or 2 to 3 teaspoons of finely crushed berries). Strain and drink at least 4 cups a day.

In some individuals consumption of bilberry internally may interfere with iron absorption. Lactating and pregnant women should avoid it, completely.

While you’re busy keeping the skin on your face young and healthy, your hands may be neglected, aging faster than any other part of your body. Your hands will give away your age no matter how perfect the rest of your body looks. Often they will even make you look older than you really are because your hands take the most abuse and get the least care.

The sun is your biggest enemy

Your hands get the most sun out of any part of your body. Most people don’t bother using sunscreen on their hands, and even if you do, it’s hard to keep it there as you go about your day. Your hands are getting sun even when you don’t feel like you’re in the sun, and even if they never seem to get burned.

UVA rays penetrate glass. They don’t produce a sunburn; they go into the deeper layers of your skin where they cause wrinkling, aging, and skin cancer. After years of driving without gloves, your hands get maximum exposure to these aging rays.

Age spots are sun damage and they are the first sign of aging hands. Too much sun also contributes to wrinkling or the hands and varicose veins. Fortunately, even if it’s too late to prevent the ravages of the sun, there are some things you can do to restore your hands’ beauty.

Correcting age spots

Age spots can be faded by a variety of treatments including:

•	Laser treatment

•	Intense Pulsed Light (IPL)

•	Chemical peels

•	Retin-A

•	Alpha hydroxyl

•	Topical bleaching agents

Age spots will return if you don’t protect your hands from the sun after treatment.

Losing their plump

Over time your hands lose their youthful fullness. This is a normal part of aging that can happen without sun exposure. It makes your hands look bony, veins more visible, and allows wrinkling even of healthy skin. Like your face, your hands can be restored to their youthful plumpness with cosmetic solutions, such as injectable fillers.

Adding volume and smoothing wrinkles

Some of the treatments for age spots perform a double duty by stimulating collagen production and adding volume to thinning hands. These include:

•	Laser treatment

•	Intense Pulsed Light (IPL)

Microdermabrasion can smooth fine lines and freshen up weather skin. It will also stimulate collagen production and bring back some plumpness.

If you really want to add some volume to your hands you can choose fat grafts and make use of the fat from other parts of your body.

Visible veins

If plumping up your hands doesn’t take care of visible veins, there are some treatments that target the veins themselves. Sclerotherapy involves injecting saline into your veins causing them the die off and be absorbed by your body. Laser therapy can be used to get rid of unsightly veins, too.

Your hands get the harshest treatment of any part of your body. Give your hands a little pampering and keep them beautiful for life.

Black walnut is a species of flowering tree in the hickory family. This plant grows mostly from southern Ontario, west to southeast South Dakota, south to Georgia, northern Florida, and southwest to central Texas. The black walnut is large tree that reaches heights of 30 to 40 feet. The bark is grey-black and deeply furrowed. The leaves are alternate are about 30-60 centimeters in length. The male flowers droop to about eight to ten centimeters long, while the female flowers are terminal and can be found in clusters of two to five. These flowers ripen during the autumn into a fruit that has a brownish-green, semi-fleshy hush, and brown nut. The whole fruit falls in October. Although native to the Midwest and east central United States, the black walnut tree was introduced into Europe in 1629. Black walnut is more resistant to frost than the English walnut, but it thrives best in the warmer regions of fertile, lowland soils with a high water table. The nuts are harvested by hand from wild trees, with about 65% of the annual wild harvest coming from the U.S. state of Missouri.

For centuries, black walnut has been used in Europe to treat skin ailments and constipation. Recent research has led to findings that support its use for skin problems like boils, eczema, herpes, and ringworm. Additionally, it has many benefits for the stomach that are well represented. Black walnut was used by Native Americans as a laxative. Additionally, black walnut was used as a remedy for diarrhea and dysentery during the Civil War.

Black walnut has also been used for syphilis, TB, varicose veins, chronic infections of the intestines, and urogenital problems. Black walnut is considered to be very useful for killing parasites, tapeworms, and ringworm by herbalists. This nutrient causes oxygenation of the blood, which kills parasites. This fact has been proven through recent research. The brown stain that is found in the green husk of the black walnut is known to contain organic iodine, which has both antiseptic and healing properties.

It has been determined by scientific research that black walnut contains astringent properties that are healing to the skin and mucous membranes of the body. Black walnut can be gargled to clean stains on the teeth as well.

The hulls and leaves of the black walnut plant are used to provide alterative, anthelmintic, antigalactagogue, antineoplastic, antiseptic, astringent, and vulnerary properties. The primary nutrients found in black walnut are calcium, chlorine, iron, magnesium, manganese, niacin, organic iodine, phosphorus, potassium, selenium, silicon, selenium, vitamin A, B1, B2, B6, B15, C, P, and bioflavonoids. Primarily, black walnut is extremely beneficial in treating athlete’s foot, Candidiasis, canker sores, cold sores, dandruff, fungus, gum disease, herpes, infection, malaria, parasites, rashes, ringworm, and tapeworm.

Additionally, this herb is also extremely helpful in dealing with abscesses, acne, asthma, body odor, boils, cancer, colitis, diarrhea, diphtheria, dysentery, eczema, eye diseases, fevers, hemorrhoids, liver disorders, lupus, poison ivy, skin diseases, tonsillitis, primary tuberculosis, tumors, ulcers, varicose veins, and wounds. For more information on the many beneficial effects of black walnut, please contact a representative from your local health food store with questions. Black walnut is available in capsule and tablet forms at your local or internet health food store.

For many of us, wearing shoes is a way of life. However, there are others who choose to be barefoot more often than not. In fact, some choose to do mostly everything barefoot, including walking, running and going to the store. This may be too extreme for some, but being barefoot more often has its benefits and its risks.

Benefits of Going Barefoot

-It is a great way to show off your beautiful bare feet or a pedicure. Let’s face it. We all love to be complimented. Going barefoot is one way to make sure your pedicure efforts do not go to waste.

-There is no warm, moist environment for bacteria to grow, which means developing a foot fungus and nail infection is less likely.

-There are fewer chances of foot deformity, which often develop from shoes that do not fit comfortably. Think about how appropriate shoes are for our feet. They are often too tight and the front of the shoe is very narrow causing feet to be cramped. For women especially, shoes often have a pointed toe and a high heel, which is not conducive to the natural structure of our feet.

-Experience greater flexibility and agility in the feet. This pertains to the feet but it also affects the thighs and hips as well. This means that bending down to touch your toes is less of a challenge. In addition to that, lazy muscles get a workout. The result is stronger muscles that improve your walking stance and running form. Equilibrium also improves.

-It helps prevent varicose veins. Since your feet are not confined to shoes, there is more motion as you walk. This increase in motion helps leg muscles pump blood to the heart resulting in fewer varicose veins.

-It’s relaxing. From a spiritual standpoint, going barefoot can be extremely calming and satisfying. Imagine walking along the beach in a pair of shoes. The experience would not be nearly as satisfying. Yoga is another example of an activity that is best practiced barefoot.

Risks of Going Barefoot

-If walking outside, your feet are not protected from weather conditions or debris on the ground. Even if you love being barefoot, it is doubtful that you will ditch your shoes to walk through snow. Walking through grass is a more ideal situation, but walking on roads and dirt paths make your feet subject to glass, rubble, and rocks, which will cause bruises, scrapes and splinters. These cuts can lead to infection.

-Your feet may become dry because they are exposed to natural elements without being protected. Lotion your feet and wear cotton socks in order to retain moisture.

-You will have to clean your feet more often because they will become dirty faster.

-Being barefoot all of the time is not recommended for people with foot conditions, such as Diabetes, or poor foot circulation.

Although most recent numbers have shown that 1 out of 3 Americans have purchased something online, it still boggles the mind that there are so many products to choose from. So which products should you choose and which products will actually work for you. We decided to take products by section and see if we couldn’t help you, as the consumer to make some wise decisions. Most people think that brand names are all good but that can’t be true!

Let’s start in the skin care section. Our two top selling products are STM Stretch Marks & Scar cream and Vitamin K Cream for Spider Veins and Varicose veins. You read that right. Out of all of our beauty products people are most haunted by stretch marks and spider veins. So do any products actually help with spider veins and stretch marks and the answer is yes. We repeatedly have calls from customers that saw drastic reduction in stretch marks when using the STM Scar cream. Why? Because it uses 3 things that work really well at reducing scars. The first is emu oil. There have been numerous studies that show that emu oil helps to reduce scars and marks in just days. It also helps to blend the color of the stretch mark to more of the color of skin. STM scar cream also has high levels of aloe vera which helps to generate new skin cells. And finally but most important are the peptides that have been studied and proven to reduce scars on the skin. This peptide combination is commonly referred to as Matrixyl. This peptide can also be found in many body skin firming products – not the ones in Walmart. Putting peptides in skin care is costly but makes perfect sense because the skin on the body is not much different than the skin on the face. They both need to be firmed and moisturized!

Vitamin K has long been used to treat bruises and dark spots as it helps to seal off leaky capillaries. These leakers can cause the look of spider veins on the face, nose, legs, arms and even in the mid section. The most common areas for spider veins are on the nose and the legs. These areas are also the areas that respond best to vitamin K creams for spider veins. Vitamin K works to scab over the leaking vein and prevent blood from spilling outside the vein. The good news is that it can heal the veins altogether and that ends spider veins for many people.

Another great seller is the double chin eliminator cream as this cream does a great job on the jaw line. Combined with exercise this cream does a great job to reduce a double chin. It contains many of the same ingredients as the Skin Firming Lotion.

The top selling firming and mending serums contain some of the most advanced ingredients on the planet but almost none of them compare to one basic ingredient and that is hyaluronic acid. This acid is normally found in the body but as we age it depletes and this depletion can cause the length of the collagen fiber and the amount of collagen made by the body to be reduced. The best bet for great skin is to make sure that your skin care products have hyaluronic acid in them. Two great products with hyaluronic acid are Golden Elegance Skin Care and Anti Wrinkle 55. Both of these products have very high levels of hyaluronic acid along with 24 karat gold flakes that help to pull out toxins from the skin. Anti Wrinkle 55 is our top selling serum and does wonders for the firming of loose skin and to help pull bloating and puffiness from under the eyes as well as fine lines around the lips.

So don’t be hasty! Be educated and you will find that shopping online is more than just Nioxin and Redken. There are hundreds of great products that can be found at super discount prices!

Visit today and get quality salon products for half the price.
Hemorrhoids, which are also called “piles” are inflamed, irritated veins in the rectum and the anus.Best Hemorrhoid Treatment Click Here Strictly anatomically speaking, hemorrhoids are “cushions” of tissues filled with blood vessels located at the place where the anus and the rectum connect. Hemorrhoids are generally agreed to refer to varicose veins of the anus and rectum.

Poor diet that does not include adequate levels of fiber contributes to the development of hemorrhoids. People who consume too many dairy products can experience excessive levels of lactic acid in the stool which can result in hemorrhoids. Fortunatly, reduction of dairy consumption often relieves this problem. Inadequate vitamin E and inadequate water intake can also contribute to development of hemorrhoids.

Other causes of hemorrhoids include prolonged periods of sitting, constipation, and straining during bowel movements. There are certain types of hypertension that contribute to development of hemorrhoids. For example, people with hypertension of the hepatic portal vein (the vein that drains blood from the gastrointestinal tract and the spleen) are prone to hemorrhoids because of the connection between the capillaries of the hepatic portal vein and the vena cava in the wall of the rectum.

Cures Hemorrhoids Safely in 48 Hours Click Here

Lifestyle factors like obesity, poor muscle tone, and poor posture can put extra pressure on the rectal veins and can predispose a person to development of hemorrhoids.

Hemorrhoids may be internal or external. Internal hemorrhoids are usually not painful because of the lack of nerve receptors in the internal part of the rectum where internal hemorrhoids occur. But they can bleed, which can be alarming, and can become complicated, becoming prolapsed, or even strangulated (a condition in which prolapsed hemorrhoids are strangulated by spasms of the anal sphincter).

External hemorrhoids are often painful, and are accompanied by swelling and irritation. Itching associated with external hemorrhoids is usually associated with skin irritation. External hemorrhoids are in addition prone to thrombosis, or development of blood clots.

To prevent hemorrhoids, basic healthy lifestyle practices can go a long way. Drinking adequate water, consuming enough fiber, better posture, regular exercise, maintaining a healthy weight, and avoidance of constipation can help. Some experts advise avoidance of tight clothing or underwear to prevent irritation. Adequate hygiene can also relieve some of the swelling caused by hemorrhoids.

Pantyhose can have many advantages to wearing them that have helped to create their popularity. There are however, some disadvantages to wearing them that might make you stick with your bare legs. Learning about all the pros and cons to wearing the tight leggings, might have you decide on which way to go.

There are several reasons why you might want to wear a pair of pantyhose. Perhaps you have chosen a skirt or a dress and just want something to hide your legs. Many women do not like the look of their legs. The skin color might be too bright or too flawed, there might be noticeable veins or scars that no one wants to show off. For those who simply want to cover up their legs, then pantyhose work`s well! Some women like to wear woman pantyhose to add to the look of the outfit.

Pantyhose can have some health benefits as well as fashion pros. They can provide extra support and elevate back and leg pain. This is most useful for women who are on their feet for long work shifts such as cashiers or nurses. Pantyhose are also worn by people who want to prevent or correct varicose veins. It is thought that these blue unsightly veins are caused by too much pressure on the veins by standing in one spot for a long time. So for anyone who has to stand in one spot for duration of time, might find that pantyhose can help to prevent strain to the veins and muscles.

For anyone with dry skin, wearing pantyhose might erase that cracked and brittle skin. Pantyhose can retain some heat in them which helps to keep your skin from being exposed to the harmful effects of some weather conditions, such as cold air, wind and bright sunlight.

There are however, some risks associated with pantyhose. For people who wear it every day they might be at greater risk for developing; yeast infections, urinary and bacteria problems. The reason for this is that when women are wearing pantyhose, the heat that is retained in the material might cause women to have abnormal fluctuations in her PH counts. The fluctuation can lead to bacteria growth and disturbances that can develop into infections.

A way to prevent any infections is to wear thigh high pantyhose or knee high pantyhose. Or if you must wear the ones that crop up over the stomach, you can try not using them every day. Pantyhose can often be uncomfortable for those that sit on the waist line. The top ring around the edge can sometimes dig into the stomach and it is often a nuisance to have pulled up over any under garments. So wearing pantyhose that just comes up to the thighs with a garter is a great way to save on comfort and of course infections as well.

Pantyhose are a fashion item that will stand the test of time. People love wearing them and like the fact that with so many colors and styles available, that the look of an outfit can actually be improved by a set of pantyhose. Knowing about the pros and cons to using them, can help you wear them more effectively. For example; if you ever develop leg issues, you might know that wearing pantyhose can help. And if you begin to develop abnormal amounts of yeast infections, you can always try substituting for a different kind of pantyhose.

Also called roughage; which is, the ingestible portion of plant foods that pushes food through the digestive system, absorbing water and easing elimination.

It has been proven that dietary fiber and bulk are important to the diet. Fiber and bulk producing foods contain substances that pass through the digestive tract without being absorbed, have an intestinal cleansing action and keep the digestive tract clean.

Foods that are fibrous move through the digestive tract due to the peristaltic action of the alimentary canal, and take with them many toxic substances that would otherwise become lodged. If these harmful substances are not eliminated by the body, disease results.

Fiber is divided into two categories – water soluble (dissolves in water) and water insoluble (does not dissolve in water). Both types are present in all plant foods with varying levels of each.

Eating fiber has many health benefits. The consumption of soluble fiber has been shown to protect you from developing heart disease by reducing your cholesterol levels and stabilizing blood sugar levels. The consumption of insoluble fiber may help prevent constipation, colitis, colon cancer, hemorrhoids, varicose veins, obesity and many other diseases.

Whole foods such as fruits and vegetables, nuts, seeds and whole grains contain bulk and fiber. Oat bran and rice bran are wise additions to the diet for added roughage.

In addition, psyllium seeds contain a high level of soluble dietary fiber. The husk swell (when it comes into contact with water) forming a gelatinous mass that helps to keep the stool soft and hydrated and acts as a natural broom that sweeps the colon walls. Psyllium has been studied for its ability to promote colon health.

Because the refining process removes much of the natural fibrous substances from our foods, the American diet is lacking in fiber.

There are seven forms of fiber: pectin, bran, cellulose, hemicellulose, lignin, gums and mucilages. Each form has its own function.

The function of pectin:
- slows the absorption of food after meals
- removes unwanted metals and toxins
- valuable in radiation therapy
- helps lower cholesterol
- reduces the risk of heart disease and gallstones
Pectin is found in apples, pears, lima beans, carrots, broccoli, peas, whole grains, Brazil nuts, green beans and beets.

The function of oat and rice bran:
- helps to lower cholesterol

The function of cellulose:
- good for hemorrhoids, varicose veins, colitis, constipation and the removal of cancer causing substances from the colon wall.
Cellulose is a non-digestible carbohydrate found in the outer layer of fruits and vegetables. It is found in the same food list as pectin.

The function of hemicellulose:
- good for weight loss, constipation, colon cancer and controlling carcinogens in the intestinal tract.
Hemicellulose is an indigestible complex carbohydrate that absorbs water. It is found in apples, beets, whole grain cereals, cabbage, bananas, beans, corn, peppers, greens and pears.

The function of lignin:
- good for lowering cholesterol levels
- preventing gallstone formation
- beneficial to those with diabetes or colon cancer
It is found in carrots, green beans, peas, whole grains, Brazil nuts, peaches, tomatoes, strawberries and potatoes.

The function of gums and mucilages:
- both help to regulate blood glucose levels
- both help in removal of toxins

Start with small amounts of roughage and gradually increase your intake until stools are the proper consistency. Those who suffer from Crohn’s disease should avoid supplements and consume natural fibrous foods.

Many of the foods that contain fiber are also rich in antioxidants. Eat at least 25 grams daily (40 grams is ideal) and at least 8 glasses of water a day to insure that the fiber moves through your system properly. Be sure to eat both the soluble (like that found in oat bran) and insoluble fibers (the kind in whole wheat products).

Fiber can decrease the absorption of any medicine. Take all supplements and prescription medicine at least three hours before or after using dietary fiber supplements.
