I am a 23 year old male with Varicose veins. Anyway to stop the discomfort they bring?

I’m a bit overweight but fat or obese, I am 6’3 and work in a job where I never sit down. I have some varicose veins only on my left leg. From time to time they hurt, anyone know how to reduce my discomfort?

My wife suffers with varicose veins & runs the halls at a hospital 12 hours a day as a nurse. If she gains 5 lbs like during the Holidays, then she has considerable discomfort – but as long as she keeps her weight down to acceptable levels, she has no problem.
Maybe you could make a few lifestyle adjustments to correct your issue. No smoking – no beer/ale – no booze – no drugs of ANY kind. Dump the junk food, fast food garbage & sugary sweet soda’s. Get on a good, healthy, balanced diet, including plenty of boiled or steamed vegetables. Drink plenty of water, fruit juices & fat free milk to help keep the traffic flowing. Snack on lots of RAW fruit & veggies. Make sure you eat a good, balanced breakfast daily. You get your energy for the day from your breakfast meal. Get up one hour early every morning & take a BRISK 30 minute walk – then – do the same thing again in the evening after dinner. Get 8 hours sleep nitely. Flip your mattress over so it will level out to give you a good nite’s rest. Purchase some T.E.D. Compression Knee High Socks, available at most pharmacies to help ease the discomfort. The best remedy is weight loss. You don’t have to lose a ‘ton’ of weight – just enough to make standing for long periods of time livable.

Hi, a really good way to help with varicose veins is to elevate your feet on a daily basis. A good way is to use an inversion table, but if you haven’t got access to one then there are plenty of other ways.

You can lie on the floor and raise your legs so that they are straight against a wall. This helps the blood circulation. A friend of mine did this for a few weeks and his varicose veins actually got smaller, so you should definitely give this a go.

    Hope it helps.

From what I understand, there are minimally-invasive and even non-surgical solutions to varicose veins. Talk with your doctor about it.
